Notes
"Mason B. Taylor was a taper from Chicago that recorded concerts by many bands in the Chicagoland area and on Dead tours. He used a Nakamichi 550 with Nakamichi 300 mics with shotgun capsules for most of his earlier recordings. In later years he used Sony D-5 and Sony D-3 cassette recorders with Nakamichi 300 mics.
Mason captured spectacular musical moments and loved to share them with his closest friends. In honor of Mason and all the love he put into his recordings we are now able to share these moments with those who can appreciate them most.
As the shows get uploaded we would love for you to share your stories about the epic times the music evokes so we can all dial back into that moment when the magic was happening.
Thanks to Mason’s family and his Chicago and Cleveland friends for opening up Mason’s Jar…"
Recorded By Mason Taylor on a Nakamichi 550 Cassette Deck,
on chrome tapes, with Nakamichi microphones.
Transferred on Mason's restored Nak550 properly.
Notes:
- Some minor cuts in tracks, presumably tape flips.
- Occasionally during the first set the recording cuts at the end of the track.

Subject: Great Recording Of A Great Show !!!
This Taylor recording is also very good but it is much softer and farther away with lots of clean reverb, being the fuzziest at the beginning of Jack Straw. Captain Toke's comment in another review "It seems like the "playin in the barn" line must have been a response to the weird mix they had onstage between 'bertha' and 'playin'" - is funny. It does seem like The Boyz are playing in a barn at first. The one advantage Mason's recording has is that his mics are high off the crowd. So this softer version's ambience is much different than Jim's. In some respect, it's a matter of personal choice which you may prefer.
I think overall, having listened to the whole thing, Mason's version of this night might be better. The ambience is really, really nice. Either way, you can't miss downloading either version. So enjoy this great show!
